2.2 COOKIES

This website uses cookies and other local data storage mechanisms (session or persistent) to provide a better and more personalised user experience for its visitors.

What are cookies?
Cookies (or "connection tokens") consist of small pieces of data that a website stores in your browser and are sent to the website with each request. They can be: first-party cookies: stored by the website you are visiting and sent only to this website; third-party cookies: websites can use external services that can also direct your browser to store their cookies. Depending on their durability, they can be: persistent cookies: they are stored on your device and are not automatically deleted when you close your browser, having a variable validity period depending on the cookie; session cookies: they are deleted when you close your browser.

What are the other local storage mechanisms?
Persistent local storage (long-term) and session local storage (persists until you close your browser) are mechanisms that allow you to store small amounts of data in your browser for use on the website without this data being automatically sent to the server with each request.

Why use cookies and other mechanisms?
The aim is to allow the site to remember your preferences (user session, language, etc.) over a period of time. This way, you don't have to indicate them again while browsing the site during your visit. They can also be used to collect statistical data on the browsing experience on our website.

What types of cookies and other local storage mechanisms do we use?
This website mainly uses first-party cookies. However, for statistical purposes and for some embedded content (videos, maps, among others), it uses systems originating from external organisations which may store cookies and other local data storage mechanisms. In order to manage your usage options, they are grouped into three categories: Necessary: these are essential for the website to function. This category includes only what is necessary to guarantee basic functionalities and security features of the website. Performance and analysis (statistics): these are limited to evaluating how you interact with our website as an anonymous user (the data collected does not identify you). It is used to help us understand how we can improve the services we provide to visitors. However, you can refuse cookies and other local storage mechanisms in this category. Third-party content: some pages of the website may contain, embedded in the page, video playback systems, maps and other third-party content (YouTube videos, Vimeo videos, Google Maps, among others). As this content comes from third parties, even if some of them do not place cookies or other local storage mechanisms, as is the case with several of these systems, it cannot be guaranteed that this situation will not change in the future. You can therefore refuse cookies and other local storage mechanisms in this category.

How do you manage your options for using these mechanisms?
When you access this site for the first time, you are asked to indicate your preferences regarding the use of cookies and other local data storage mechanisms. You can accept the three categories described, or you can set your preferences differently. When managing preferences, you are provided with more specific information about those mechanisms that can be stored in your browser. In the case of the categories "Performance and analysis (statistics)" and "Third-party content", you will be asked for your express consent to their use. Your usage preferences will be valid for 180 days from your last visit, but you can change your consent at any time by accessing the Settings. If changes are made to this website that include modifying the set of cookies and other local storage mechanisms used, you will again be asked to set your usage preferences.
